The Birth of a Nerd

Alright, I know I introduced myself but I figured you guys should know so more about me because I believe we'll all be great friends and such. So I've chosen to tell you all the story of how I became a nerd.

I was thirteen, a jock and one of those guys who would rather give a nerd a swirly, or toss them in a dumpster, than talk to them. All my friends were like that and I had the hottest girl in school, we were one of those popular power couples who made it our life goal to tease and poke fun at nerds in any way we could think of. I was a pretty good football stare, then it happened. I got hit too hard during a game, injured my shoulder to the point the doctor's said I can't play sports anymore, an injury that wouldn't hurt. Soon after that injury my girlfriend and my so called closest friends left me, I became an outcast and they treated me like an injured dog that should just be put down.

It wasn't until a few months that I met one of my old daily victims. He sat down and began to talk to me, of course I didn't talk back but I listened. Eventually me and him became friends and then came the day I never thought would happen. He got me hooked on Magic The Gathering, and then later on YuGiOh. It wasn't long before I became a nerd. I was hooked on roleplaying forums like GaiaOnline, I loved playing games like Final Fantasy and I met with my friends once a week to play DnD. I became a nicer guy and I must say, I honestly like who I am now more than who I was when I was thirteen.

i was always socially awkward, and it got worse as i got into higher grades. was picked on a lot. once, in 8th grade, i decided that i would pick on someone else for a change....targeted a girl who was even more awkward than me, picked on her for a little bit. couldn't keep it up, wasn't in my nature...BUT, when i met her several years later, i found out she had diabetes, and had gone blind from it. i spent some time trying to make it up to her - the fact i had been a d--- - and then she died. moral of the story...bullies suck ass.
