What's the best computer on which to play The Sims 2?
The requirements on the box say

OS: Windows XP, Me, 2000, or 98
CPU: 1 GHz or faster
RAM: 256 MB or more
disc drive: 8x or faster CD/DVD drive
video: DirectX 9.0 compatible

video card must be 32 MB or more and one of these
NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS or greater
ATI Radeon 8500 or greater

I want to get a new computer in 6 months, but I don't want to spend more money than I need to.

The only thing I'd say you really should put more money into is RAM. Otherwise the minimum requirements listed seem fine. That is if you're only looking to play games like the Sims 2 or earlier.

What price range are you looking at? Desktop or Laptop?

on my windows xp it sims 2 wont load but on my vista it runs fast and i got 7 different sims 2s on it
