i would love to date someone as geeky as myself, but it doesn't happen.
me + dating = epic fail.

geography seems to be a problem, i meet a lot of cool people online, just too far away.

the main problem i think i have is that most of the hot geek guys i know chase after the cheerleaders and popular girls. i am neither of these. i was in the latin club, the physics club and the math team in high school, none of the boys in any of those clubs ever asked me out. maybe i am viewed as ''just one of the guys''?

could someone please post the dating cheat code in here??

You need a Game Genie and the fabled golden code book. I have a serious geography problem too. My town is advertised as a retirement community and my highschool had 600 kids, a graduating class of about 50 kids. Of which I dated 3.
As for being one of the guys I think it's nice to be able to date a girl like that. Obviously you have similar interests, sense of humor, style etc. Maybe it has to do with shyness? Sometimes it's hard to talk to girls. Ever try making the first move?

`Hmm. Yeah, I know what that's like. My advice is getting out and finding new people. Even then, no guarantee. Huh. I'm not sure. Try an online dating site? Oh wait. :P

But what I don't get is why there are so many of us that have small circles of friends and thus limit ourselves in the "pool" of dating possibilities. Awkward social interaction? Fear of rejection? Or is there a magic formula to nerd dating and I'm just approaching this the wrong way?

On a nerd dating site, this question - over a span of 3 years - gets 16 replies.

O.k. 17 now. I agree with your reasons rain, but additionally I think it's because a lot of genuine nerds - being smart, are busy with schooling, post-graduate work, or successful employment. or... Hey Dr. Jones, no time for love!
Sometimes you get lucky, and find someone you are willing to take a chance with. Personally, I haven't ever actually dated a nerdy girl, which always left me feeling like brown shoes with a tux. Great girls, except for the last one (and is that a story... whooooooo!), but totally "normal". Not one of them had ever read LOTR or enjoyed some of the geeky things I get into.
Is anybody reading this?

You can try:

"Up up, Down Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Select, Start."

It doesn't guarantee a date, but it will ease the sting of up to 30 rejections.

`Well i found generally speaking, that water tends to find its own level. Meaning that when you have a website like Nerdpassions you get off to a good start with other people. You know that the person you are interested in, or the person interested in you is a nerd, and you can go from there. You can talk about Star Wars, or StarTrek, or anything nerdy and instantly have someone who tends to be interested in the same thing.

Yeah, geography sucks. There are a lot of nerds in my town...but they are so hard to find! Plus there are hardly and outlets they will go to. We have like...2 "fantasy" type stores and a best buy. I have dated a couple nerds before. The nerd aspect was awesome but it is still a relationship, so things didnt work out. My friend group is not very big either, so friends of friends are out of the question. I am not shy in the least bit, the only problem i face is finding someone, anyone to meet. But i am in college so thatll help. though my field of study has a terrible gender ratio haha. The only thing i can say is never lose hope.

I find it extremely hard to even introduce myself to a female in a gaming type situation even if they are there alone. Mostly out of fear of being branded a fan boy with a crush, and dismissed just as easily. And when they come out to play in groups, forget about it! I am dead set on getting a nerdy girlfriend, but it's even harder than searching for any other smaller group of females. There are sites like this, but my god, I see people here who have signed up 5 years ago and these forums look worse than a GameFaqs forum for an outdated indie game. I hear a lot of women are deathly afraid of listing geeky type stuff on dating sites to try and fit in, and I'm wishing like hell they would let it be known! I for one am tired of trying to relate to women who have no concept of real fun what-so-ever. --- is a given, but what are you going to do with the 30 minutes you have left in the day after that? ...
