lol 7 is only famous because it put the ff series on the map....the stoy line characters and gameplay are all fairly mediocre...it was the graphics that really put it on the mainstream map. I started with 5 worked my way through 9 and then played 1 thru 4
Id have to say ff6, 4 and 9 were my favorites.

wow, I actually started with the first games and worked my way up. I actually had to play FF7 and FF8 on the computer since I never got a PS1, and then when I got the PS2, the first games I bought were FF-Tactics, 8 and 9. Right now I'm enjoying FF12, I'm actually enjoying the new battle style, it keeps it interesting.

The only Final Fantasy that I actually finished is FF9, simply because love the story line. But I have played FF3 USA (got tired), FF7 (a friend told me the story, so I loose interest) and FF3 DS (didnt like it)

all the FF games have been good in there own way. (except FFX-2)

My favorite has been ff8. Its music was just great and it looks nice for its time. the story seemed solid too. although the love story was a little over played.

Now see this is where i would have to disagree with you. FF8 had TONS of obscene plot holes and it revolved around a villian who you didnt even see untill there was only about 3 hours of gameplay left. The story dragged you around too much never bothered to explain things and the love story was totally one sided.
Also i felt it had one of the weaker soundtracks for the ff series it seemed to have a few overused tracks that i simply just became sick of.
Not to mention the incredibly poor character devlopment and Zell may very well be the worst ff character ever (next to cait sith)

FF6, without a doubt, was my favorite. It was also the first Final Fantasy game I played. Never thought I'd care so much about little sprites.

FFX was so pretty...so very pretty. And I'm a sucker for a love story.

I follow the camp that FF7 was really overrated. It wasn't the best FF game, just the most famous.

FF6 (3 for SNES) was simply... "Epic" to say the least. The story line was very well done, the characters; flawless, and the music was second to none (for its time: 1995). I accidentally hit a clitch that gave me multiple Gem Boxes (like 99+ of them!). If you remember what Gem Boxes did, then you'll know I hit the JACKPOT! Unfortunately, I lost a few rare items, but... a small sacrifice. And... the Espers... that was what started it all!

FF4 (2 for SNES) was my obsession back in the 5th grade. I painstakingly got all my characters up to level 99 and my idiot friend saved over them... The dumbass thought that he had to "save" his file on all of the slots in order for it to work (this kid ended up as a jock later in life, so go figure...). I pretty much cried...

Then there was FF7, 8 & 9... I must have bought all the action figures associated with them (even though I still haven't finished 8, 9 and I barely made it past the intro of X and X-2).

Yeah... those were the days... I wish I was a kid again (these games just aren't as intriguing as they were 15 years ago (they actually bore me now). *sigh*
