I never really got the point of golf. It's always felt like pointlessly hard Tee Ball to me. S'just one of those things that's more enjoyable on the wii. :p Oh, and, I saw your tiny hat picture; you may not ACTUALLY be pretentious, but you pull it off well. ;p

`Same here! Funny story, though, apparently my neighbors like to play golf. The city recently had to post a "NO GOLFING" sign outside of the cemetery near my house, which sends a pretty confusing message about my neighborhood. Apparently we're trashtastic enough to play golf in a CEMETERY, but also upper-middle-class enough to play GOLF in a cemetery.

`That's... such an odd thing to see outside the cemetery. O.o I wonder how much of a problem it has to be before the city is just like "I guess we have to intrude on the sanctity of mourning with a sign about the whole people golfing on top of the bodies of their dead family issue". I thought *I* lived in a weird cemetery place, what with H.P. Lovecraft cultists always traipsing through to visit the guy's grave while trying to invoke Cthulhu.

Lovecraft, but I think it's odd when people start turning a person's final resting place into a tourist attraction. Do you really get people who fancy themselves actual Cthulhu cultists?? o.O I always thought that was strange, too. Fiction is fiction. I fear that someday people will crowd Terry Pratchett's grave site in order to invoke the great A'Tuin or something.

`Well, I mean, I'm not exactly one to talk, I guess. Every few months I'm over here in a vest and goggles waving around a painted toy gun screaming about airships and rayguns and cybernetic arms... I'm sure that there's gotta be some Cthulhu cultist somewhere leaning over to his friend and whispering, "What the hell's up with that freak?". But then again, I'm not invading Queen Victoria's grave space to do it. :p

Yes, I am fairly new here. I found this site because I'm tired of not being able to find my own race, the nerds, in this foresaken wasteland called "the country". So I hope I am able to find people here just like me I love comic books, doctor who, anime, cosplaying, larping, computers, Quantum Physics and all of that wonderful stuff. Hope to see you around!

`Fairy: OH! Speaking of RenFaires, my mom brought home the coolest thing the other day from her antique store. It's this massive 5 foot long broadsword replica with this great gold-colored handle with intertwined dragons as the guard and a circle of claws as the pommel. The blade even has the blunt spots where it should so you don't cut yourself if you use it the way you're supposed to (i.e. one hand on the blade for control). I would totally take it to faires if I ran those circuits, but I haven't been at any since I picked up Steampunk since both are prohibitively expensive and I was more or less forced to choose.

`That sounds so cool! Also, your mom runs an antique store? My sharp & pointies are pretty exclusively scimitars for my bellydance act. Both circuits are definitely expensive & my money goes into steampunk, too. I still go to renaissance faires, though, because those are where I make money. For some reason, ren faires up here tend to hire sideshow acts. :b

`Yeah, my parents run the largest antiques mall in the Northeast. It's pretty cool, we get to see a bunch of weird and interesting items, and a lot of weird and interesting people. :p

And, Aaaaaah, about the Ren Faires, lucky. Makes sense, though... I'm plannng to do the same thing with steampunk cons once I get enough prop product to make it worthwhile to get a booth. I already have contact with a bunch of makers from the community and a lot of them have been really helpful. But at the moment, it's just a one-way pay. ^_^;;

& yeah, that makes sense. You make some pretty excellent props from the looks of it, so once you manage to stockpile an inventory you should be good to go! :)

`Thanks. ^_^;; Weirdest thing to come in? Hm... well, there's a human midface that came in, that's on my shelf now 'cuz it was a bargain. Couple hundred years old, pretty cool. And we got in this great Victorian cane that has a hidden flask in the head and a hidden sword in the stick- a deadly combination, if you ask me. :p Plus we got in a beautician's electronic hair curler machine. This thing looked like it was invented by daleks and then discarded for being too cruel and exterminating too efficiently.
