One day Charlie was found under a cliff dead. The police called Charlie's brother Sean who had witnessed the whole thing. This is what Sean said to the police: "I was taking a walk along the cliff, to find Charlie and his girlfriend fighting. I didn't want to interrupt so I stood behind a tree. Charlie was wearing a big leather jacket and had on gloves and jeans. He was also wearing black boots. That's when I saw Charlie pick up a rock, threatening to hit his girlfriend with it. That's when I approached him to tell him to stop. I must have startled him because he started running right off the cliff". The police immediately investigated where Charlie was fighting with his girlfriend. The police found the rock charlie was about to throw at his girlfriend, with fingerprints on it. Without scanning the fingerprints, The police immediately arrested Sean. Why?

`Charlie was wearing gloves so they couldn't have been his fingerprints.

`Correct, Beece. Good to know somebody's paying attention.
There was once a very special tree. This tree doubled in height each year until at the end of the tenth year it had reached its maximum height. How many years did it take for the tree to reach half its maximum height?

`Right again. Here goes another:
An elderly woman likes to take a vacation once a year. She always stays in a different hotel each year. She is in her room unpacking her things when she hears a knock on the door. She answers it and in front of her is a young man dressed in business clothes with a blue briefcase. "I'm sorry, I must have gotten the wrong room," he says. She says,"It's quite alright," and she closes the door. She immediately runs to the phone and tells the manager to have the man arrested because he is a thief. The man was, indeed, a thief and was taken into custody.
How did she know?

`I have no idea so I'm just guessing now. If he had the right room he would have had a key. I don't know why he's a thief though. Are those all the details?

`I'd say you got the gist of it. Had he thought it was his room than he would not have knocked. It's an older riddle I learned about 10 years ago, it's not so important that he is a thief so much as that he's a criminal, but thief seems appropriate give the situation.

`Here's one for you.
The man who invented it, doesn't want it for himself. The man who bought it, doesn't need it for himself. The man who needs it, doesn't know it when he needs it.

`Correct. Here's another.
The more that there is, the less that you see. Squint all you wish when surrounded by me.

`The only thing I can think of is he was born before(in front of) his father in the hospital. His mother died giving birth so it was technically him that killed her but wasn't really his fault. The only thing I can think about the sister is that it was his step sister or he didn't know it was his biological sister and neither did anyone else. Am I close?

`Right on everything but the sister.
Hint: Like the first line(born "before" his father), there is a word in the last line that has several meanings depending on your perspective.
