If a superhero defeats every supervillain by either killing or reforming them with no possibility of them ever returning to villainy again, he has essentially defeated the purpose of being a superhero all together, so thier must exist villainy for a hero to fight. Otherwise he would be nothing more that a person to help out with natural disasters.

I know that this is sort of similar to the Justice League episode where they kill Lex & brainwash all of the other villains in the world. Everyone at the base is eager for action even tho thier is nothing going on. I guess you could say that I got this whole thing from JU but it is still a paradox none the less.

A heroes dream is also his nightmare, he fights for the day he has to hang up his cape. I guess the upside is that most people never expect evil to be totally extinct. Infact to do something like kill & erase memories from people you, yourself would be sort of the bad guy.

A tyranic hero who wishes to only control & live in peace & boredom.

good cannot exist without evil

every yin has it's yang.

that is what keeps nature at balance

a piece of nature cannot exist without it's opposite - therefore the superhero cannot defeat every villain

`good and evil are only points of views . in other cultures some evils that ( for example) the general american one is considered common behavior . and the same goes for the opposite way around .

`this is a conflict presented in the *classic* movie "Mystery Men" by Ben Stiller...hehe

and is a school of feminist thinking that examines the "protector or predator" dichotomy in regard to male roles in our society.

`Villainy is a matter of perspective anyway. In this case, by utilizing the power necessary to eradicate all major elements of the opposing ideology, all that has been accomplished is the assumption of the role of villains by the heroes.

If you wipe out all enemies, the enemy becomes you.

`(no one else going to respond? ok)

i disagree. i believe the concept of ''heaven'' or ''utopia'' or ''nirvana'' indicates that there is an inherent belief that "darkness" can be eliminated, leaving only ''light." just because we haven't seen it accomplished doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

But who would want that? Maybe it's just me, but the idea of a world fully conquered, with only light, seems as much of a hell as a world of darkness. With no room to change, grow, or struggle, what meaning is there to life?

`hmm...so you are positing that 'darkness' is a necessary aspect for growth?

`Absolutely. As in any good story, conflict is required to bring about revelation or transformation. Nothing evolves in a state of peace and comfort. Though it may be harrowing to live through, the greatest advances in thought, technology, and human development have been the direct result of a struggle against evil. Whether that is in the form of a societal or communal conflict against an outside antagonist, or in a more individual form such as rebellion against an enemy or even childhood injustices.

`but, to me, the concept that *we* incessantly struggle 'toward' good in the face of 'evil' indicates that we are merely seeking to achieve our state of homeostasis (as all things tend toward)....if that 'good' state is our natural one, wouldn't that indicate that the things that hinder us on our way toward that are merely non-necessary inconveniences?

`Good and evil are subjective.
Lex is trying to protect humanity from ET threats and sees himself as being good.
There will always be both good and evil from someone's perspective.
But back to the question, the JLU just need to adapt to further improve the quality of living in the world.
Flash can pick up rubbish, superman can be a one man power plant and Aquaman can support fish breeding programs.
