I make brain-controlled robots. What is my definition of a nerd and what does it mean to me? Well, a nerd is somebody who recognizes precisely how useful an intellectual pursuit can be and makes that a part of their life-style.

In my case I research brain-controlled robotics at the University of Washington and am a student there. We hope to help severely paralyzed people.

But nerdiness is more than just doing "nerdy" things, its being engaged (perhaps intellectually) by the things going on around you, being inquisitive.

In my case, I not only do research, but photography, music, meditation, reading, and a host of other things. There are too many exciting things in the world to just listen to heavy metal and watch anime all day. Its fun to explore.

Being engaged, to me, also means paying attention to the things going on with people around me and caring for them. My friends describe me as being sharp-sighted, warm, and helpful.

I aspire to find somebody who can complement my work - somebody warm-hearted, spacious and supportive, who has a good sense of of healthiness. Since academics are such an important part of my life, it would be helpful to find somebody who could accept (or join in!) my passions for the abstract. For me there aren't many other requirements than that, though of course chemistry is really important. I'm also really attracted to women who have good heads on their shoulders and their own sense of direction - intellectually, artistically, or in any other meaningful way.

You will find me very accepting of who you are. I would love to explore what we can accomplish together.
