Keepin' it Real. Hello, I just moved to Mass from the Dirty South, and it feels like I've moved forward in time fifty years. I'm working on my second master's degree, teaching english as a foreign language (or TESOL if you're hip to the phrase). My previous master's was in history, and I still remain interested in history. I just didn't want to practice it as a career as much as I wanted to study it. I love learning languages, but that usually has taken a back seat to whatever else I was doing at the time. I minored in German (but it's getting really rusty) and some Spanish. Enough of both to survive if I had to rely solely upon them.

Besides studying wars and governments and languages, what really makes me a geek is my obsession with comics. I have a huge collection. God help me, I love them. If you dig X-Men or Spider-Man we are solid. I also like a lot of science fiction, which was my original form of geekdom as a kid. I love Firefly more than you could ever imagine and will not rest until the cast resurrects it as a show or movie sequel. As a kid, I really liked Star Wars, but George Lucas has killed a lot of that over the last ten years with those horrible prequel movies. However, I still appreciate the originals.
