i'm writing you a poem
to chase the doubt away
i've gathered all my courage,
now i see it's strictly up to fate.

i know i've tried to hide it
disguise it as a friend.
while standing in the garden
i prayed to god
that you would understand.

i've waited my whole lifetime
for a woman like you.
but i could wait a thousand years
just to hear you say
i love you.
