Thoughtful geek, cautious but open-minded.
My nerdy side got an early start as I was basically raised on British science fiction (Doctor Who, Blakes 7, Hitchhikers Guide) and what passed for video games at the time (think TI-BASIC computer and Atari 2600). While I'm not super-outgoing by nature - you'll often find me at the computer or watching a streaming movie or TV show in my free time - I'm also pretty laid-back and easy to talk to (a predilection for long conversations, including sometimes on obscure topics, is a bonus). I'm something of a typical nerd in that I enjoy sci-fi/fantasy, games, and slightly off-kilter shows and movies, but I've also become a data nerd by profession and hobby. It's fair to say that I spend more time in front of Excel spreadsheets than your average person. I also find politics, both here in the U.S. and in other countries, interesting, and I hold progressive/liberal views on most issues.
