Despite having known myself for quite a while, I'm finding it astonishingly difficult giving a simple and concise description of who I am. I suppose I really consider myself a fringe geek because my passions don't drive me to the geek extremes. For example, I play Dungeons & Dragons about once a week, but I don't own a single plush polyhedron. I've seen at least two iterations of Star Trek in their entirety and most of Doctor Who, but I've never been to a single convention. I run Linux, but my coding skill is novice at best. Getting the picture? I am a bit of a fan of writing and have a desire to get something together for publication, but I just haven't managed to compile either enough short stories or a cohesive novel to move on it. In the meantime I expend my efforts either working or designing adventures/games for my friends. Since moving to the Lansing area about six months ago I've made a few acquaintances, but I haven't had a chance to be as social as I would like. Recently, quite recently, I decided I want to change that. It seems like the best way to do that is to seek multiple avenues, this being one of them. Someone smart and funny is a must, even though that old cliche reads even more banally than it sounds. I want someone I can have a good time with, not feel any pressure around and generally just enjoy the company of. Like most people I'm not looking for drama and want a low-impact relationship, so to speak, with someone who isn't afraid to go on an adventure or two and cut loose after the clock's been punched.
