A nerd is someone who eschews the social norms and pursues their own personal interests, regardless of how they appear to others. Nerds place a high value on knowledge and are interested in a broad array of subjects. They tend to do well in ALL areas academically. Those who focus on narrow areas of interest, such as anime or computers, are geeks, not nerds. Nerds are socially disinterested, but not necessarily socially inept, that`s a dork. I am a nerd and it is a badge that I wear with honor.
