my name is Matt and I'm one of those mildly absurd pseudo-intellectual types. In any sane world I'd be a graduate students working on a PhD in history right now, but alas tuition is a cruel mistress, and I am making my way in the real world for the next couple of years working as an editor.

I'm really just an average nice guy, with a few quirks and obscure interests thrown into the mix. I'm a trained historian and literary scholar/critic and maintain an intense interest in both fields. I'm also an experienced editor and writer, and have worked as a teacher. I have an MA in medieval studies and a love of all things Classical, Medieval, and Early Modern.

Considering my education/career background it is probably not surprising that I am an avid reader of both fiction and non fiction. Regarding fiction, I read 'the classics,' but also have a strong interest in fantasy and science fiction (especially those with a military and neo-medieval slant), as well as alternative history. I have similar interests regarding television and movies, and I also enjoy, foreign films, anime and some comics. I used to really be into video and tabletop games, but this interest has waned in recent years.

I'm looking for friendship and hopefully a relationship. My only real criteria is similar interests and tastes - nerdy or otherwise. A university education is a plus, in any field really. I'm eager to learn about others interests and passions and share my own. If you want to talk message me and tell me something interesting about yourself!
