I have played two perfect games.

One is Ico. The other is Portal.

Firstly, neither of these games lasted too long for me, so I never got bored before they were over. I think that the key in this kind of experience is for the game to be short; or perhaps, the experience needs to be over before it gets old, and making the game short is the easiest way to do that. There's no veyr profound reasoning for my claims other than that. I just found the subject matter compelling and the gameplay innovative and fun. Ico with its grim fairytale story, mystery and incredible level design (which, if it's going to be that realistic, can undebatably be described as architecture) and Portal with its ridiculously innovative and fun game mechanics coupled with some of the better voice acting and story I've seen in years (and such a sense of humour that I've never found in a game before), there wasn't a moment in either of these experiences when I wasn't feeling joy.

Portal, yes indeed. Probably the most innovative Source release since HL.

I too enjoyed it thoroughly, especially the cake references, was just too funny.

I have not tried Ico although I think I might based on your recommendation. Is this available on Steam also?

Afraid not bud, I'm pretty sure Ico's a PS2 exclusive. It's absurdly good though. I got a PS3 al,most solely for the fact that Team Ico are working on something for it.

As for Portal, yeah, again, fantastic humour. I for one can't wait for HL2: Episode 3 to see how they work Aperture and maybe the Portal gun into that. Could be incredible.

`Haven't played Ico but Shadow of Collossus was an awesome game . It's so much fun to fight and defeat something that's so big it rarely fits on the screen. It's a spiritual sequel or something to Ico too isn't it?

I definitely recommend HL2 for you, its very hard to put down! HL1 was great for its day, also, but its just too dated to recommend anymore.

Anyone tried the new HL episodic series' ? I havent had a chance to play them yet.

Portal is also amazing. I am just a sucker for any game that's funny and Portal is funny on top of having incredible gameplay. Can't wait for Portal 2 and The Last Guardian.

`I prefer Shadow of the Collossus to Ico. The Last Guardian looks amazing though, can't wait for that. And a prefect game? try Okami on the ps2 or the wii. Quite possibly the best game ever made. Failing that, Uncharted 2 on the PS3.
