Kirk versus Picard

Okay, I've been doing alot of research lately trying to identify the better captain. Personally I've always been taken with Picard but at times I am swayed by Kirk. Admittedly, Spock was a way cooler sidekick than "#1" but Picard had Warf and he was just the s*&t. So what does everyone think...Kirk or Picard?

`Obviously they both had their outstanding and weak qualities. I often thought that Kirks crew made better decisions than he did, and Picard was more in control of his crew using them like a well controlled tool. I dare say that Riker was even a better captain then Kirk, though many would disagree with that.

Did anyone notice Rikers out of control addiction to alien sex? He was worse than even Kirk!

`It was one of the top 5 reasons to watch...you never knew what new type of lady they were going to put out there for Riker to sweet talk.

`Kirk was not a better captain than Picard IMO. He was reckless, his crew was always saving his arse, and he was a womanizer. He is still my favorite though ^_^

Picard warrants respect, and he gives respect back to his crew. If I had a choice as to which one would be my captain, I would pick Picard, because of his leadership qualities.

And yes, Riker did get with Troi. So did Worf lol

`Gotta go with Captain Picard, too. He was always so thoughtful and rational. I always figured Kirk would get everyone offed if it weren't TV:P

`I love the Original Series so much, but I must say that Picard was a better captain. Although, if we were going to judge the captain based off of pure testosterone levels alone then Kirk would take the cake.

`Yeah, I agree that the original is the best; however, I don't agree that Scott Bakula killed the franchise. I liked his series, but I didn't care for Deep Space 9.

`I have always liked Picard better because he acted more like a captain then Kirk. Kirk felt more like the First Mate always rushing around doing whatever he wanted whereas Picard was reserved. BUT I think I liked Kirks crew better. Cause Spock could knock you out in 5 seconds, Bones always was sarcastic, and Scotty could fix just about anything.

`Okay....Perhaps this is just one of those quirky little things that comes with the science of --- appeal, but Picard's voice is by FAR the best. I mean, yes, Kirk was probably a stellar captain and we can never forget the classic first episodes we fell in love with, but who would you rather have barking orders at you? Patrick Stewart or William Shatner?

`i would have to say Picard. he was a pretty badass captain but i think the cast of next generation was by far the best out of all the series anyway.
